Animals commonly seen in the wild

Marine fauna:

Catfish, carps, pikes, trout, sturgeons, pikes.

Birds:

Hawks, eagles, petrels, pelicans, storks, flamingos, ducks, geese, swans, pheasants, partridges.

Land mammals:

Gray wolf, wild boar, chamois, red deer, Eurasian lynx, red fox.

Snakes and insects:

Butterflies, grass snakes, dice snakes, Caspian whipsnakes, green lizards, wall lizards.

In the city and
on the road

Stray cats and dogs are quite common.

In the
Countryside

Open trucks carrying animals. Dogs are sometimes left tied up. Chicken cages can be seen around the villages.

Hunting or poaching:

Licensed hunting is allowed. Common animals hunted are game birds, deer, chamois, mouflon, martens, European badgers and muskrats gray wolves, lynxes, white-tailed eagles . Other birds of prey are protected species in the country.

Animal fights:

Animal fights are considered a criminal offense. However, dog fights still happen. Bull fights are also organized in some parts of the country.
