Animals commonly seen in the wild

Marine fauna:

Dolphins, wheals, sea turtles.

Birds:

Pigeons, cuckoos, Peacocks, Grey horn bill, storks.

Land mammals:

Elephants, leopards, peacocks, monkeys, junglefowl, deer, water buffalo, bears.

Snakes and insects:

Snakes, Lizards, crocodiles.

Common sights you will not like

In the city and
on the road

Stray dogs are a common sight in most cities and towns in Sri Lanka. Owned dogs are kept on a leash. Hens are taken in cages on large trucks to the slaughter house.

In the
Countryside

Buffalos are used both for agriculture and carrying heavy loads.

Cannot be found in the cities or the rural areas as the police arrest the accused for fights between animals
